A gunman opened fire in the lobby of a medical building in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday morning, injuring two people and sending dozens more to local hospitals seeking care for minor injuries sustained during their escape from the building. The police have confirmed that the gunman was killed by SWAT officers after hiding inside the building and holding several hostages for hours. Authorities are still investigating whether or not there were any accomplices involved in the attack and are asking anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.

At least 2 dead, others wounded

Several people were wounded after a shooting at a medical complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma, police said. The shooter opened fire Thursday morning at his former employer, Tulsa-based Penn Turf, according to KJRH-TV. Police confirmed to Fox23 that at least two people died and six others were wounded. Authorities said an officer engaged with a suspect and fired shots during an exchange of gunfire before the suspect was taken into custody. Multiple ambulances arrived on scene shortly after reports of multiple victims were called in around 9:15 am ET Thursday morning, reported KOKI-TV. The shooting took place just one block away from Riverside Hospital. According to officers on scene, all injured victims have been transported from Penn Turf by 11:20 am ET Thursday. 1 suspect detained

Police say they have a man in custody after shots were fired and multiple people were injured at a building that houses multiple doctors’ offices and other businesses on Riverside Drive, near 61st Street. Police are releasing few details about why shots were fired or what circumstances led to them, though they do say it appears there was more than one shooter. While two victims have been confirmed dead, three others remain hospitalized with serious injuries. We’ll keep you updated as more information comes out. For now, here’s what we know

The victims have been identified

The City of Tulsa Medical Examiner’s Office has identified all five victims who were killed in Wednesday’s shooting at a downtown medical building. The deceased are identified as Dr. Jerry B. Ennis, 59; Shannon J. Smith, 42; Peggy Nadell, 65; Christie Louise Lawton, 52; and Dr. Kevin Kiley, 53 — all Tulsans. Three other victims have been identified by their family: Jennifer Jacobs (wife of John Daniel Jackson), Michael Chance Brewster and Laura Garcia Swisher (wife of Andrew Joseph Swisher). On Friday afternoon, Jake England was named as a suspect in shootings that left five dead and two others injured Wednesday morning at a business on East First Street near South Boulder Avenue. A second suspect is still being sought. Police say they believe it was an isolated incident involving only England and his co-worker, Robert Jonathan Williams Jr., 29. Both men were employees of Excel Industries, where several workers were gunned down before police officers fatally shot both suspects. A motive for the killings remains unclear. Authorities said they don't believe there is any further threat to public safety related to the incident... Police said they responded to 911 calls about gunshots around 8:57 a.m., when officers found four people suffering from gunshot wounds inside Excel Industries' plant at 315 S.

The shooter’s identity is unknown as of now

Authorities have yet to release information about a suspect or suspects, and are asking everyone to remain on lockdown until they’ve completed their search of all offices. The shooter could be in one of those buildings right now. Police are saying that all non-emergency personnel should stay clear of those buildings and out of the area until they give word otherwise. In addition, authorities have asked that no one spread rumors or speculation on social media regarding an active shooter situation like that which is occurring at our city’s medical district today. It is imperative for social media users to stick with reputable news sources for updates and refrain from jumping to conclusions about an ongoing investigation. If you see something, say something: If you witness anything suspicious in your neighborhood or workplace, please contact local law enforcement immediately. You can call 911 if it’s an emergency; otherwise call 311. If you see someone acting suspiciously near any government building—or anywhere else—please report it to police immediately. We will keep you updated as more details emerge throughout the day.
