As you can see below, including an image has lead to much greater engagement than text alone.

Reach and Engagement

While one of many factors that affect content marketing success, reach and engagement aren’t to be overlooked. They are simple to measure but also easy to misinterpret, so it’s best to identify which metrics are important for your goals and then use them as a point of comparison over time. Reach is easiest; it’s what most people refer to when they discuss shares, likes or retweets. Content marketers who have started paying attention will probably recognize that one piece of content doesn’t fit into just one category, meaning their reach number can be skewed. For example, a tweet may be considered native content from both an organic and paid point of view, meaning you might want to break out those figures separately if you want a clearer picture.

Key words, Hashtags, and Emojis

If you’re just starting to use social media, you might be a little confused by all of these terms. But they’re incredibly important to understand. Key words are used on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn and help people find your content through search. Hashtags are keywords associated with events, causes, topics of interest—things that are trending right now. Emojis are characters that can be used to express emotions or objects (like a heart), and have really taken off recently with the rise of mobile technology. It’s a good idea to use at least one hashtag on every post you make so that other users can find your content.

Visual Results

If you run a business, chances are you spend some time on social media. But just how effective is your social presence? How does it rank against others like it? These questions and more can be answered using simple graphs and charts that show you exactly where your page lies among others similar to it. Social Mention, for example, offers users a free tool that displays a wide variety of graphs and charts depicting their posts’ visibility over time and across different social networks. You can also use Google Trends, which focuses more on comparing how various terms or products are used online rather than each item's popularity overall.
