 A Royal Celebration: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Join the Queen for Her Platinum Jubilee


Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were among the guests in attendance as Queen Elizabeth II attended her platinum jubilee service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, England today. Over four days, the royal family will be celebrating the Queen’s 60th year of reign and will culminate with her Diamond Jubilee on June 11th. Other notable attendees include Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Princess Beatrice of York.


How to Get Involved

If you want to participate in royal celebrations, there are a number of ways to show your support. Although we may not get an invitation to a royal wedding any time soon, we can still celebrate by waving flags, going purple and gathering together with our friends. We can also join in other events that celebrate the monarchy on special days. If you’re looking for places where you can see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from afar or up close, here are some ideas Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend a service at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle (May 19) Prince Harry is expected to attend Trooping The Colour (June 9) Prince Harry will attend The Derby horse race (June 2) Prince William will host An Evening With The Royals event at Kensington Palace (June 7) This year marks Prince Charles' 70th birthday (Nov 14). He'll be celebrating with his family, including his sons Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as his wife Camilla Duchess of Cornwall. A new documentary about Princess Diana will air later in 2018 (date TBA). You might even spot her sons Princes William and Harry throughout its filming.


Celebrating a Century of Service

As a mark of respect following her death, both houses of parliament suspended business as MPs observed a minute's silence. The flag atop Buckingham Palace was lowered to half-mast, while thousands of people visited Kensington Palace, Princes William and Harry's official residence, to sign books of condolence. In Canada, flags were flown at half-mast on federal buildings in honour of Diana. A wreath was laid by Governor General Romeo LeBlanc on behalf of all Canadians. Further tributes occurred throughout Australia and New Zealand.

In London, crowds gathered outside Buckingham Palace during much of August, with over one million bouquets being left by members of the public; these were later donated to charities for use in memorials across Britain. Numerous memorials have been held around the world since her death; these include a concert held at Wembley Stadium within days of her funeral which was attended by Princess Margaret (who had not attended her sister's funeral) and representatives from most European royal houses.


Britain and Canada Remember Diana

On July 1, 2018, both Britain and Canada remembered Princess Diana on what would have been her 61st birthday. The princess’ legacy lives on in her son, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton. Earlier today, along with other members of their family, they helped plant a tree in memory of Princess Diana. In addition to celebrating Diana’s life—and mark her passing—the royal family also celebrated all that has been accomplished since that fateful day on August 31st 1997 when she died after a high-speed car crash in Paris. This week marks 20 years since Princess Diana passed away in Paris following a tragic car accident... She was just 36 years old at the time of her death, leaving behind two young sons, Princes William and Harry.

As part of her jubilee celebrations earlier today, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace where royals gathered to celebrate 60 years on the throne for Her Majesty... However, one member of royalty who was noticeably absent from events was Meghan Markle — who is pregnant with her first child with husband Prince Harry.


Canada Remembers Princess Diana on 20th Anniversary of Death

On Aug. 31, 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales, was killed in a car crash in Paris along with her boyfriend at the time Dodi Fayed. Since then it's been 20 years since her death. In honor of Diana's life, Kensington Palace has released several photos from Diana's childhood as well as a statement from Harry talking about his mother and their relationship together. It read that My mother touched so many lives. She was the people’s princess, and it is important to me that I continue her work to make a difference to others. This year marks 20 years since my mother’s passing. The memories will always be there, she would have been proud to see how far we have come today. The statement also said My thoughts are with those who were closest to my mother on what would have been her 73rd birthday.


London Honors Diana

Britain has come together to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II as she nears her 70th year on throne. More than 2,000 members of royal family and foreign royals are gathering at Buckingham Palace for a black-tie dinner in honor of a woman who has been an unwavering part of British culture since she was a princess herself. The gala will be followed by a concert that will feature One Direction, Elton John, James Blunt, Liam Payne, Emeli Sande and others. Earlier today (May 19), Parliament celebrated Elizabeth’s reign with a stunning prayer, or poem, written by Carol Ann Duffy. As we celebrate your long life/We give thanks for your steadfast faith/Your strength through times of testing/And your service to our country, it read. In a world where many seem bowed down by troubles/You have brought hope, courage and love/To those most in need.
